Will parents debt affect my credit rating?

I have heard that a parents debt and poor credit rating can affect the childs?
One of my parents is in serious debt, has been bankrupt once and looks to be going that way again.
We have tried to get the parent to seek help but they keep spending (and borrowing from not only companies, but family members) and sadly we are all slowly giving up.
Is this going to affect mine and my sisters credit score? I am very worried.
Thankyou
