Trying to take the stress out of the debt - little steps

Slm - They look really cosy ! I especially love the pink ones. 50p a pair is a bargain. That's a lovely gift for someone. Thanks for showing us.
Triggles did you manage to get your car sorted?
How have you gone on with your NSD? I had another NSD today but have to get some baby milk and bread tomorrow, I feel guilty breaking the NSD cycle but I've had 3 so far so mustn't grumble.0 -
Suzy - we're doing okay with the NSDs, I think. Today should be another! We have a grocery delivery this morning, however, it was ordered online yesterday and paid for yesterday, so IMO it doesn't count as a spend today!
Car's back now - and we're over £500 poorer for it. But it's running, which is the main thing. Thank goodness!
Done already:
- kids up, fed, and dressed
- bottles washed, sterilised, and made up for day
- laundry washing
- washing up done
To do:
- scan photos from MIL's photo album (going to make a photo calendar for her for Christmas using old family photos as a surprise)
ooops baby crying... back later to finishMSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0 -
Alright, DS2 up in his room - trying to keep from falling asleep for a badly needed nap. *sigh* We'll see...
Apple crisp in oven baking. Second load of laundry hung up to dry. Dining room quick tidied. Kitchen quick tidied and dishes washed up again from the baking. Groceries were delivered and put away. Two substitutions for sale items (nappies ) so I refused them and will pop up to Sains tomorrow on the way back from the High Street and pick them up in store then, as I'm sure they'll have them. If not, I'll check back later in the week, as the sale runs until the 10th (I think). I try to buy ahead for stuff like that so that I am not forced to pay full price unless I run out - so I then try to make sure I won't run out!! LOL
Ordered a nice turkey leg (£1.49) that is just huge - will be cooking it when I do some other baking this evening, and that will be used for a few days for sandwich meat. We're also going to pick up one or two of those nice small gammons from Lidls tomorrow in town as they are on sale for £3 (normally £4.49). They will be nice to cook for a small meal, with the leftover meat for either sandwiches or chopped up into cheesy potato soup. Yummmmm... I love cold weather - I tend to cook and bake more, as it warms up the house and I don't need to use the heater as much. :rotfl:Although the Remoska has been getting a workout as well!
We're having leftover homemade chicken soup from last night for our supper tonight - I'll just make up some dumplings and pop in there as well. And then some of the apple crisp for after. The rest of the apple crisp will do well for DH's lunches at work for a few days this week.
Whooops. baby crying again. I think he wants a bottle everytime I find the computer. LOLMSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0 -
Ok. Can't decide if I'm being clever or incredibly stupid/silly. I've been thinking of sewing up some simple cloth bags - made out of nice festive or at least pretty wrapping-style material. Each year we buy a bunch of wrapping paper which gets ripped/shredded and tossed out. I'm thinking over the idea of having a number of different sized cloth bags sewn up, use them to put presents in under the tree. Then they can be reused each year. I'm going to keep an eye open for nice inexpensive but fun (or classy) material and see I can't try it.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

Sounds like it's a good idea although it's nice to rip the paper right off - even as an adult, it's part of the excitement.
I picked up some wrapping paper 15p a 2m roll at Tesco the other day , great for the childrens presents if you were looking for something cheap.0 -
I'm still mulling over the bag idea - but as we are going to the post office this morning, I may purchase some plain brown wrapping paper - and I will either use it to post items we sell on ebay or use it to wrap items - I have tons of stamps and can decorate the paper nicely (for any occasion, really!). So then I have two options.
My list of things to do today is long long long!
- post office to pick up postal money orders and mail ebay items sold
- get out winter clothing and put away summer clothing
- list more items on ebay for sale
- organise information for child trust fund for DS3
- school registration online for DS2 (DONE!)
- change payment details on a few items
- cook turkey leg for use in sandwiches
- cottage pie for supper tonight (was going to make it last night but nobody felt greatly hungry)
- go over Christmas card list - get those for abroad done first
- laundry, including sheets
- make cookies
- clean bathrooms
I'm sure there's more, plus the daily stuff. I'd like to start working on some knitting this evening as well.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0 -
Wooohoooo! Very thrilled today! I went to play my usual daily free game on a bingo website and won £120 - all withdrawable!! Free money! Hooray! :j And £5 on a free scratchcard as well! DH was well pleased!
Been very busy today - got all the normal household/kids/bottles and such stuff done. Lovely cottage pie for supper. Brownies baked. Chocolate cookies made. Went through a stack of paperwork and sorted and filed it all. Tossed the unimportant papers with no details on them, put the rest in a file for shredding later this week. Walked down to post office and got postal orders for creditors and mailed off our ebay packages.
Tomorrow's sure to be busy as well. Just feels SO GOOD to feel like I have some control over my life again.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0 -
