In fairness surely you need to give us a idea of where you are thinking of buying , or what you are buyingAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0

OK, perhaps I should have put the title a little differently.
I am after a laptop either from a high street retailer or on-line. £600 ish with a 16/17" screen and would like to know if there is anyone who knows of a voucher / code that I may use.
Any other advice welcome, ie. don't buy a xxxxxxxxxx or don't buy from xxxxxxxx as their after sales is shocking etc.0 -
Hello caveman,
I always have a personal preference for a company called dabs.
I've no code, but they do have some good deals.
As well as new, there is also 'used' ones available. Maybe damaged packaging, or display models, or repaired under warranty, and all the information is provided as to why an item is classed as 'used'. But you can manage to get a good deal.
I have bought 2 laptops, a flat wide screen monitor and a few smaller bits and pieces.
I'm sure you'll have lots of other opinions,
Regards

don't know if this will help you. BUT...
I was confused about laptops, having always had a desktop. I had to get me a lap top when I was off work ill for some weeks.... anyway, I dislike pcworld (2x crap desktops from there)
I had heard that acer were good and also toshiba. looked around and found Argos had the Tosh for £400, 17" screen. Argos also do 9 months interest free credit with their store card for this value.
As I hadn't had a laptop before I didn't want to get one and be disapointed with it. I figured that I needed to spend more money to get something good. Not the case, I was advised by a friend that this one would be just fine, and I didn't need to spend £600. He was so right, this has been excellent for me.
I might not get a 17" again tho, I find it quite clumbersome on my lap when watching tv or balanced quite precariously on the arm of the sofa.0 -
DO NOT BUY A DELL!!!!!
I put together the highest spec laptop on their website and paid well over £600..... It has had problems from day 1 braking having to be sent back to be fixed..they even made us wait for a part and fix it ourselves one time! I have fought till im blue in the face to get it replced with a new one but i keep hitting 'computer says no!!!' answers. I never get reffered to a manager and if they dont like speaking to me or cant understand what im saying they hang up!
I have lost 2 lots of my first baby's photos from the hospital etc (yes i know i should of backed them up as soon as i placed them onto the computer!) but its just not something you expect to happen on a laptop of this spec! Not only that but i now have no idea if the new parts they replaced are the spec i paid for!!! BE AWEAR!:mad:0 -
I nearly forgot ive just had to pay an extra £200 to have them help me uninstall everything and the reinstall it all again to factory settings because apparently the software is not covered by the warrenty!0

try this place.. got 3 laptops over the last few years from them.. cheap and reliable! don't sign up for their mailing list though as they bombard you with emails every 2 days!

or if you're feeling flush get an apple from their refurbished store.. great discounts to be had (as far as apple goes, anyway!) but you have to keep checking the page as deals come and go..
