I Won £3.5 million..........

......Had a call from winners international saying i had won this money, and they would deliver it tomorrow, they were calling to see if i would be home, i hung up as it seemed a bit weird, the number was not withheld but it seemed to be from abroard as 1471 did not have the number, has anyone else had anything similar.

I haven't heard about anything like that but it concerns me that they wanted to know if you were going to be in - maybe you should call crimestoppers with the info it could be burglars targetting your area.

No and may I be the first to congratulate you on becoming a millionaire :T:T:T:T

Personally I think the increase in scamming over the internet and phone is absolutely despicable, I wish they would put their time and efforts into something more worthwhile and honest, like politics.

    ;)
  • I would report it to the police.
Thanks to everyone who posts comps, I love winning prizes big and small

I think you should report it too - could be some dodgy person trying to figure out when people are out at work etc.

Have you typed the number into google? You can sometimes see other reports of people receiving calls from that number or if it is legit it might tell you where it came from.
  • Had a quick google:

    http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/telephone-call-c171827.html

Looks like they may have been about to ask you to wire some money to them first, so normal scam.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare
  • Let's be honest whilst we all would like to win such a prize the chance of someone turning up on your doorstep to give you that amount of money is v unlikely - not even the lottery would do that. This sounds very very fishy to me.
If 1471 stated we do not have the callers number is it most likely from abroad. It depends what person details of yours they had, I certainly wouldn't give them any information. Telephone the police and make them aware of it, if something is happening in the area they may be aware of it but you will not be wasting their time in just logging the matter with them. With regard to tomorrow if you do go out ask any friends/neighbours to keep an eye out. Only open your door to people you know and should anyone attend they should be able to identify themselves to you. Under no circumstances allow them access to your house.
Sorry to sound so bleak but I'd rather you were safe than sorry!

It sounds very much like a scam where they ask you to wire them money as a delivery fee so that they can deliver your prize. I would report it to crime stoppers. The police can trace the number via BT. As you put the phone down, I doubt they will bother you again but they will carry on until they come across someone vulnerable who may well fall for the scam.
Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Birmingham Childrens Hospital caring for my tiny and very poorly grandson who was born at 29 weeks. Thanks to them he is getting a little stronger every day.:A:A:A
