is it too soon to order bridesmaid dresses?

do you think its too soon to order bridesmaid dresses? i get married june 2011 :o

the thing is i LOVE the dress i've chosen and i'm really worried they wont be available any more closer to the time. they come in the perfect colour, they will suit all 3 of my differently shaped BM's and they have sparkles on the back straps, i just love them. i have to have it!!

  • As much as you might want to order them now, please dont. I am sure you will find similar styles closer to the wedding when you will be able to buy sizes correct for the time of the wedding. If you are uber worried then save some copies of the pictures, worse case get them made from the pictures.

A million things could happen between now and then, prgenant bridesmaids, more briedesmaids, less bridesmaids, different bridesmaids! You never know.
Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.
  • I love the dress! I would agree with Hellokitty though, it just seems a little early to order them yet when you don't get married till 2011, i think i'd be worried about them putting weight on/loosing weight then the dress not fitting anymore. If sure you'd be able to find something similar nearer the time or even hopefully the same dresses x

    thats what i thought :(

since i've been looking at these things i've saved photos and links of so many different dresses and thats the only one i can really see being worn on my day!
i'd just hate for them not to be available anymore, and i doubt landy/milly could make them so cheaply - they only work out to about £35 each!!

  • I bought my bridesmaid dresses a good 12 months before the wedding as I knew they were perfect and they were a bargain in the sales. I had my sister and daughter as bridesmaids and knew that I wouldn't want anyone else. The only thing that might have changed would have been their shape so I bought 3 dresses. My sister didn't end up losing as much weight as she had wanted to and I had my daughter's dress taken in as she is a skinny minny. The 3rd dress I have just sold on ebay and got back more than I'd paid for it. Both bridesmaid dresses cost me £30 for the 2 of them and I never saw another dress nearer the time so I'm glad I got them when I did.

So it worked for me... :)

Dont do it too early== My daughter was so chuffed to be chosen as a bridesmaid she totally used the occasion as the nudge she had always been needing and lost 2 stone before the big day and looked amazing
Try and do a good deed every day.

i wouldnt need to worry about them losing weight, as they are all slim and have been the same for years, so no real fluctuation to worry about. the only thing that could go "wrong" i suppose would be if one of them got pregnant

  • yes it is.

We bought mine a year prior to the wedding and 2 things happened after buying them..

One friend put weight on due to some sad things happening in her own life (though she dieted back into the dress as she loved it so much and it fitted on the day!).

My sister in law fell pregnant with my gorgeous nephew. And her boobs grew to EPIC proportions after the birth so we had to find someone at the eleventh hour to do some magical work on the dress to make it fit her (which it did.. i was so impressed with the seamstress!)
