    I agree with Joeskeppi.

People talk about this rally as being unsustainable, but when they quote figures they always quote from March. March was almost an 'armageddon' position, a slump so severe that it was genuinely once in a lifetime. It was an aberration and I would say that of the 50% rally since then, 40 clicks of that could be down to realigning with normality.

There are plenty of reasons why this is more than a paper thin rally. For whatever reason, confidence is returning to the corporate sector. The worst of the recession is over. Companies are reporting better than expected figures. There is a sharp increase in M&A activity recently and - despite the recession - 92% of the workforce remain employed, economically active and buying things.

More importantly, money has to go somewhere. Billions and billions of pounds of liquidity cannot just sit nowhere. Interest rates look awful, so noone wants to keep money in cash for longer than they have to now we know the world isn't coming to an end. Property? Well, perhaps, but the recession-trailing unemployment story will be seen to have an impact there. That leaves stocks and shares.

It is not often but you make some good points there icon7.gif

I think the sales of FTSE companies are around 65% non-UK if that is what you meant.

Lots of mining companies that want the respectability that comes with a London listing for example.

Bad Man! Way too early for any of that shenanigans!
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

  • Still too much money sitting in the safe havens for it to be going any higher over the longer term for me.

But by the end of next week my portfolio will only be down 100k inc fees , which is a big difference from the 300 odd it was in march not including the 50k it cost to set up up and pay yearly charges and taxes.Of that 100k it will be a long time to erase , as a chunk of that was selling funds at a considerable loss.

My wholly rbs sns isa holdings are in profit , but to maximise my profit and negate all losses in it the need to be higher than 80p.But I really only have about 20 percent of shares at the price.

My 100k in the rbs green index has been steady all year too , never dropped like the main indexes. The govts and manufacturers still have targets to hit for 2012 , 2020 its still a good index slowly slowly cathee monkey.

I stayed away from oil and gold , i really dont want to catch that bubble so soon after the great crash of 09.Man i have made more grey hairs this year than the previous 10.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
