Firstly would recommend buying some stardrops cleaner - there is a thread on this - sorry cant do links. Excellent value and works really well - also buy some microfibre clothes these make cleaning a lot easier. (Loads pf places sell them)

In the fridges I would put an opened tub of bicab of soda in after youve cleaned them - this absorbs odours.

White vinegar (also brill for cleaning) is a deodoriser - just put some in a small dish overnight in any smelly rooms. Essential oils - chose one you like then put a small amount on lightbulbs you can do this on rads as well but guess they wont be on now.

You will get loads of replies to this - also if you look in the indexed collections there is wealth of cleaning info.

    Good Luck

Oh and by the way I put half a lemon in a bowl of water and heat in microwave for a couple of minutes - makes the kitchen smell nice and the microwave is then easy to clean.

If you want a fresh smell, us Flash Bathroom spray, it really does have a nice clean fresh smell. Which does linger.

As for cleaning the oven, what I do is use one of those metal curly thingies, abit like brillo but without the soap. That with hot soapy water or stardrops of course and elbow grease.

About once every three weeks I do one shelf each evening after washing up, then I do the door and base of the oven. Seems to help keep on top of things.

If you prefer a routine thats fine but make it one you can stick too.

Most of all though, enjoy your new home

If your feeling keen and enthusistic you could borrow the Kim and Aggie - How Clean is your House? book from the library. They have a section on cleaning a new house from top to bottom in it, which might be useful but makes me want to have a lie down just thinking about it! :p
