posted in quick question- no reply as yet.. help!

Can I please ask a quick question from anyone in the know :-)

I put my slow cooker on this morning (beef stew) and I thought I'd put it on low, turns out its on high and my stew is done (been on since 7 this morning). What shall I do? turn it off and re heat later, or put it on low now and leave it on until we eat (bout 5) the meat is lovely and soft I dont want to spoil what tastes like a fab stew.

Can anyone advise?

Thanks in advance

SL x

I would reheat later but only the amount you need for that meal. If you have made extra, then as soon as it is cooled it can be frozen.
  • Thank you very much for your reply....

It wont toughen the meat up will it?

no - but I would reheat in microwave rather in the SC or even in a saucepan to reheat it quickly - bring to boil then simmer until completely hot through :)

second that chris 25! stew always tastes better reheated slowly but i would do it in micro or saucepan as well. I try to make stew the day before i plan to serve it as it tastes much much better the next day or even the day after that! just make sure it doesnt actually boil - my old cookery teacher drummed into us 'a stew boiled is a stew spoiled'!
