A1 Typing & Mailing - Homeworking - Advice Please

Hi, I received a mailshot from above company looking for homeworkers to do copy typing (60/70 pages for about £350-£400). Payment on collection of work completed. They ask for a registration fee of £30 which they refund when paying you for your work.
As a trained typist/admin assistant with, I am looking to earn some extra money for Christmas and was wondering if this is a legit, genuine earning opportunity. I did google them and found a website, it looks professional enough, but I don't want to pay a fee to find out the whole thing is a scam.
Any advice appreciated, thanks guys.

I agree never pay upfront for typing or mailing work.
If you want to make money from home typing or mailing try contacting
your local mailing/fulfilment houses, marketing agencies, pr agencies etc by sending them a letter or phoning and asking if they have any homework available, I work from home full time doing data entry (I have my own website and send out letters occasionally).
Most of my clients have found the website but some repsond to the letter and email asking for a quote etc......
You may need to know how to set up a database, if they dont supply this and how to export the data extra but some will do this for you.

Thanks for the tips, Deq, I'll think I'll have a send out a few letters and see what happens.
Thanks again all x:rotfl:RiverStar:A0 -
Better safe than sorry Riverstar. There are many people looking for work that they can do at home, and many exploiters. Apparently apart from asking for a fee, some of these companies let you do the work, then don't pay you for it because it is "not up to standard". I can't understand why these companies have been getting away with it for decades, but they do and there seems to be a steady supply of naive, gullible people who fall for these tricks.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Hi Pluto, I agree, it's so not fair, especialy for the people who are genuine and hardworking. I'm going to send out my CV to Marketing & Puiblishing Companies to see if I can generate anything on my own. Can only see how it goes and try although I suppose mught have same problem ie dishonest people not paying for work saying not up to standard. Does anyone have any experience of this, going it alone and have this problem. I'm willing to try but don't want to set myself up for a fall, so to speak.:rotfl:RiverStar:A0

Hi
I have never had any problems with not being paid, and I have been doing data entry from home for 5-6 years (part time at first then fulltime last year)
If some one emails me about some work I check out the website associated with the email to make sure that they are from a company and ignore any 'free' emails. Sometimes I have had a meeting with them at their offices but most of the time it is done via email or phone (my mobile!)
I always quote a price per 1,000 records hourly, and include a setup fee if I need to create a database and a fee for exporting the data back. Also you need to remember that you might need to return forms back to them so always quote for that as well, I always put TBC (to be confirmed) depending on amount and weight. Most of my stuff is now sent for shredding and I quote a price for this and it is collected by a shredding company when I need it.
I have always been paid and never had any problems with clients saying that the work wasnt up to scratch but I did this sort of work for my full job for nearly 20 years so have some experience!

Hi Deq,
Do you earn a full time wage doing this? I guess every single company is worth going after for data management and the like? They all need it!
Any further info (without compromising obviously) would be great!0
