Further Education post BR

Quick questions for those in the know. I remember reading a thread about an OR allowing for further study via OU on an SOA. Does anyone have any idea what their official stance is for someone wanting to pursue further education? I would like to do a Masters full-time, I'm thinking better career prospects + more money for IPA = everyone happy. Would they allow me to save towards it? Or is it best left until discharge? Thanks for input.

No you won't be able to have a specific 'allowance' for 'masters savings' I am afraid. It will just be a case of maybe using your holiday allowance, some of your clothes allowance etc and putting that under the matress or something . When are you thinking of starting the course?BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

Nope, I wasn't even allowed to have my course fees, had to come out of surplus0

Thanks tigerfeet2006, sorry work got busy last night so no time to log on. I wanted to start ASAP but I guess I can't for the next 3 years whilst on a IPA. Oh well there goes something else in the name of BR.2019 MFW No. 74 £13700/£30000 (45.66%)

Have you thought of doing one part time (half the cost per year may be more affordable) or there are some courses where you can pay on a modular basis as I discovered when I was looking into doing a masters in Social Policy. Meaning you can save up, do one module, save again, do another module. Might also be worth looking at postgrad research studies because depending on your subject some of these are funded0

Thanks for suggestions RTR. Don't think I'd qualify for funding, not a research based masters unfortunately.2019 MFW No. 74 £13700/£30000 (45.66%)
