Best man speech

Hi All,

I am in desperate need of help. I have just been asked to be best man next saturday for someone i dont know very well at all (original best man has had to pull out last minute)

I need to create a small speech (and i mean small - i hate public speaking!)

Could anyone be kind enough to give me a few pointers on what i need to say? This is the 1st time i have done this and im dreading it!

Thanks for your help
Steve

  • Steve - no pointers but just good luck.

You have to toast the bridesmaids.. I know that!
  • ill try to help, although I only have limited knowledge of it lol

    compliment the bride
compliment the bridemaids, and thank them
try to think of something you can say about the couple (been together a long time, its about time they stopped living in sin lol anything you can think of)

as the actual best man cant make it, could you read a message from him to the bride and groom?
he must have a speech prepared already, so it might as well get used

hand out the bridesmaids gifts ? (not sure if you do this bit or not lol)

    hope that helps a bit

    good luck

I did this 2 weeks ago and was very nervous, am quite happy presenting to 200 doctors, but a best man speech inspired fear in me.
Look online there are plenty of speech's you can gleam info from to create your own, other than that relax and dont wet your whistle too much, and remember to pause at the bits they are supposed to laugh at.
