debt management plan

please help me! i need advice!
is it legal for a debt management agency to charge me the initial monthly fee without me signing the letter of authority and sending it back to them? i know for sure at the point of the initial contact, i specifically told them that i have yet to agree until i read the plan, sign the documents and send them back, as they got hold of my bank details just so everything's all set up. unknowingly, the plan commenced on that day when they phoned me to discuss details over the phone as my bank account was debited the monthly fee 14 days later.
is it possible for me to refund the money as i am not going through the DMP anymore? i just wished i read the forums and martin's tips sooner regarding DMPs.

I would think that they can't charge you a fee without your authority.
I'd cancel the direct debit that they have set up and go with one of the non fee charging dmp providers - CCCS, Payplan or CAB.
Not sure on where you stand on getting your money back though - might be worth speaking with the CAB about it and see if they can help.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

i happened to ring my bank to let them know about the debited payment that i have unauthorized and thanks to them, i had my money back and had all my card details changed.0
