can anybody help me, i have a debt of £740 of my wifes who has left me, i rang the debt management company to offer to pay. they asked me to make a reasonable offer which in return i suggested £400 they refused and asked to speak to my wife who then could authorise me to speak to them. is there a guide they use so that i can stick to rather than apy the full amount off? or is it wasier to pay the full amount. thanks for any replies.

Hi Maninvan,
If the debt is in your wife's name and is actually your wife's debt why are you paying it? Especially since she has now left you.
My advise is if it is not your debt, don't pay it. They can't force you to pay on her debt.

If the debt is in your wifes name she needs to deal with it. If you feel that you should be helping her with it, why not give her some money and let her organise a repayment plan with them, if she then chooses not to use the money towards the debt its not your problem.Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0

Minivan,
Are you actually saying that you ran up debt in your wife's name?
A reasonable offer might be a third of the debt.
Ten pounds is a very cheeky offer.
