in Cutting tax
Just looking for a bit of advice. I am about to become a full time student, and obviously I'm entitled to relief on council tax.
a) I assume it can only be claimed once i.e at one address
b) Does it matter whether that is your term time or 'home' address
Thanks

You need to get a student card from your university/college which gives you exemption of council tax. I would imagine you would use your term time address if that is where you would be living, or else they'd be looking for council tax from you!0

students are exempt from council tax where ever they live and at any number of addresses0

If all living at the property are students then there is no tax to pay but if one person is not then 75% of the tax is due, and if 2 are not students then the full bill is payable.0

Excellent, thank you all very much, since it seems to be in order I shall claim at both my term and home addresses, this will save me quite a bit!0
