Loonyleo  HOWMUCH???
Just to say, I dont by crap either, never buy value meat, sometimes buy organic veg ( we are going to go for a box soon I think, when we find one that delivers to us that can do meat as well) and some value products. Also some value products ( peanut butter a good example) has simply peanuts & sugar in, whereas the sunpat version has loads more additives. Dont think because somethings cheap its got more additives in it, simply aint true
Look at my figures ( IM well chuffed) we were spending 75 a week for 2 including "dinner parties" now about 25 a week, including dinner parties. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
i need to learn more about these veg boxes! please tell me more!
i have also noticed that i am eating more healthily now too! lots more fresh stuff, and for once my freezer isnt full to the bring with nothing that i fancy eating!! and i was under the deluded impression that it cost more to be healthy! i honestly can say i havent had chips for two weeks, when i used to eat them all the time!0 -
Depends where you are I guess Lou. there seems to be very few cos that deliver here in london in the evening. ( obv we are at work all day most of the time)
I did ask the question on OS, but i coudnt find anyone to do it for me.
Soil association website has a list of traders who will deliver, they do seem like a good idea. It also negates the pop to shop stuff. We reckon we can get away with a big shop of tins & the heavy stuff once a month, and then live on the boxes if we get a meat one. PLus organic stuff in our tescos runs out pretty much as soon as the doors open, and WAY mor expensive than the boxes seemingly. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Following on from lynzpower there is some info about veggie boxes in the OS mega indexed thread, under 'food':

I also am very conscious of not eating rubbish, and completely agree with lynzpower: don't be fooled into thinking expensive food is automatically better, or that cheap food is autmotically worse. Read the ingredients and you'll see! The general rule is, if there's an ingredient that you don't understand what it is, don't eat it.
Veg boxes are great (esp being a veggie). I get mine from riverford.co.uk, who also have a branch called river nene, but i'm not sure how far east they cover.

rlm - none of them have anything for me Im afraid, nor does big barn, it just says about farm shops in essex but as I choose not to drive, well its a bit pointless. Might have to be abel & cole, but they are meant to be a bit rubbish?? Anyone had any exp with these? They are by far the most expensive too:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

Yeah, it seems to be a bit hit and miss. We don't get a box delivered (yet, hope to in the future) but remembered reading something about them on the OS board a few weeks ago so thought I'd point people in that direction, in case they're in the right areas for delivery0
