does having a student loan affect your tax code?

i have a student loan and im paying it back, however a friend of mine in work is on the same wage scale and i pay £28 pound a month more tax aswel as my student lon, when i enquired with the office staff they said its because of my student loan, is this correct/.

    Each individuals tax code is personal to them - you may be on emergency tax code or your friend is being repaid after an overpayment to the tax man.

    no, your student loan doesn't affect your tax code... the standard tax code is 647L this year... what's yours?
