Energy saving grants for over 70s?

Hi all,
I'm just wondering if there are any other grants available for making my parents house more energy efficient? My mother is over 70 and my dad reached 80 this year.
I know there is the ~£100 for cavity wall and loft insulation from NIE (I think) but is that it?
I'm not going to complain about £100, but if there is any other grants to reduce the cost of insulation, we'd appreciate it!
Is there anything for double-glazing?
Any recommendations on installers for insulation?
Ta very much.

Have you been in touch with the warm homes scheme? It used to be run by EAGA but recently changed.
If your parents get pension credit, rate rebate or attendance allowance (or some other benefits) they could get cavit wall insulation, benefit check, loft insulation and hot water tank jacket.
THere is also warm homes plus which can help out people who have economy 7, gas heating supplied by tanks or solid fuel heating.
Just go to www.nidirect.gov.uk and search for warm homes scheme.
A relative of mine got lots of assistance from this a few years ago, complete home heating system, oil tank, boiler, radiators etc, loft insulation and new water tank all free. I think at the time my relative was receiving pension credit and was over 60.0 -

Over 60 and a pensioner and can't get any help with insulation packages.
No pension credit --no deal. It seems very unfair has I have been "prudent" with my money over my working life. Gordon Brown also claims to have been "prudent" and look at his problems!
Tried Tesco Insulation co. but they can't help has you have to be in the UK to get their package! So much for our United Kindom!0 -
There's a grant checker on the Energy Saving Trust website.
Also there are some very good tools to see how much money you'll save doing various things.
Here's the basic one but there are other more personalised ones that are much more detailed. Some surprising comparisions - for our house, by following some of the free simple tips, we could save as much as you would save by installing expensive double glazing.0 -
Its pure criminal the things pensioners miss out on due to not getting pension credit, some miss out by penceDunwunderin wrote: »Over 60 and a pensioner and can't get any help with insulation packages.

Thanks for the replies.
I think the only one available to my parents is the one I mentioned (through the energy saving trust & agency/NIE - I have the info, just left it at work!)
The one that used to be run by EAGA may have had an age option in it, but it doesn't anymore. I need to sit down with the parents and see if they would be eligible for pension credit or even rate rebate. These are 2 of the benefits that would make them eligible for the warm house scheme and the only 2 that they might be eligible for. But I seriously doubt if they will be.
*sigh* Guess I just start making some calls to get some quotes.#96 of the Norn Iron Club
