A disaster that turned out ok!

We're having nibbles in the office today as three of us are moving office next week. I decided to do the fork cookies and the carrot cake from the OS recipe index.
The cookies were fine, but the cake 'evolved'
the recipe said it had walnuts in, but Tesco Express had no walnuts, so I substituted sultanas.
Cooked it, but I'd forgotten to grease the tin and when I turned it out, it had stuck at the bottom so the bottom quarter stuck to the tin!
Disaster was staring me in the face, so I decided to chop the cake into big chunks, I hurtled round to the corner shop for the cheapest chocolate available (got 2 big bars of Cadbury fruit and nut for 77p each on special offer!)
Melted the chocolate and added the chunks of cake. It turned into a bit of a mushy mess but I persevered. I spread it on a thin bake tray and shoved it in the fridge. I'd already made the carrot cake 'icing', so when it all set I spread it over it (still looked a bit of a mess! ) and then cut it into squares and popped them into a tub.
They are lovely! They just need a name now, because carrot and sultana nut chocolate cake squares doesn't quite roll off the tongue!!

Women - we're just so resourceful.............
It'll get christened "disaster cake" in my kitchen0 -
They sound divine keren29...a lovely treat!
You need to think of a name for them for when you make them again.
I made "Auntie Florence's Dog Biscuits" yesterday..not quite sure why they are called that, basically it's tiffin with a layer of melted choc, then cooled in fridge.
The cake name derived from my childhood with my sibling and just stuck..so think of a good name for your concoction for years to come!

Me too! I think I've got the best fed waste disposal unit in the world.
Sometimes, just sometimes, though, disasters make legends.
I made a legendary Mississippi Mud Pie one which was soooo welded to the plate that I had to throw the plate away as well:mad:0
