Student loans (Scotland) - does the "six year rule" apply?

It starts from the date you took out the loan (in scotland anyways), the thing i've found oddest is that althought you'd think they have 'powers' being government based, on the old style loans they have the same if not less (purely because they're systems are outdated and staff underpaid) than a normal debt collection firm. ie it's unlikly they'll get your phone number unless you give them it, it's unlikely they trace you when you leave a property and if they do it's likely to be years after you left before they find you...etc etc they are so incompetant I always took my deferment form to their office personally and they even managed to loose that and claim i'd never handed it in!

HI!! Old style mortgage loans - anyone got any of the T&C's of these? I've heard that they are Consumer Credit Agreements before, but I can't find any legislation or writing to back it up. Needless to say, the SLC can't get organised enough to send me this kind of information.

So, Harassed, littlejaffa, anyone? Any more info?
