Mortgage for non UK tax payer

This is my first post so thanks in advance.
I'm planning on moving house and contacted my current lender the Halifax about a further mortgage. I have been working abroad for several years and am a non UK tax payer as I'm out of the country 9 months a year. When I told them this they said they couldn't give me a mortgage even though my credit rating is good I've been with them 20 years over 3 mortgages two of which were paid off early and never missed a payment. Does anyone out there know of mortgage brokers/companies who will deal with non UK tax payers. The last time I extended my mortgage with Halifax I was also working abroad and they granted it without any problem but now they say their rules have changed.

There are a few lenders that could look at this for you, but it will depend on your whole scenario as to whether or not you would meet their criteria.
