Really sorry to negative but these are rubbish, I bought 4 from toys r us for 7.99 each after ignoring all the bad reviews about them, I thought they were a fantastic idea but they don't work. My neighbours bought them for their children too so that they could all text each other. The programme is awful and hardly works even when in the same room. Couldn't get neighbours texts. Luckily took them all back to toys r us and got my money back. The wireless is chronic and you had to log in all the time on the computer as they kept on losing the connection. I would have loved them to have worked as the kiddies would have loved them0 -
At least Amazon will take them back if faulty so you won't lose your money.0

It it is a closed system for kids it is NOT WIFI based but requires a USB device plugged into a home PC to work. Other users must have the same device and also need a PC. Both PCs need to be on the internet.
I suppose the software is Windows, XP? Not Mac or Linux
It is made by Mattel the worlds number 1 toy maker.
