Cake V choccy fountain

Need your advice again please ladies!

I can either have a big fat chocolate cake and no fountain, or we can have a sponge cake and a choccy fountain.

The fountain costs £350 for 2.5 hours, for 100 guests and that includes, fruit, fudge, pastries, marshmallows etc...

I thought it's not that bad because it works out at £3.50 a head, but I really want a fat choccy cake and so does OH.

We can't have choccy cake and a choccy fountain because there will be too much waste as it will all be chocolate.

Would you go for the fountain or not bother?

one of the weddings we went to this year had a choccy fountain and it was hardly touched (even by hardened chocoholics like myself) as we were all too stuffed from dinner

I vote for choccy cake!

Cake for me please. But then I'm just a mucky pup & would end up dribbling chocolate down my dress.

We're not having a sit down meal.

We're getting married at 3pm, then having drinks and canapes, but we're going all out for the food in the evening so I doubt anyone will be full up after some canapes lol

Yes choccy cake, I went to a wedding that had a fountain and people avoided it as it can be messy and you are in your best clothes!

I don't personally want the fountain for me (im a savoury not sweet girl), i just thought it would be nice for the guests, but it is expensive if nobodys gonna touch it isn't it?

Maybe have the choccy cake, some fruit cutting bars and a sweet table instead??

What about setting up a mini chocolate fountain yourself (I think they're about a tenner now a days) and going for the cake ... personally, I'd ahve one dip in the fountain, and that would be enough - and I'd do it without the kids seeing me as there is NO WAY I would let them near it in their best outfits!

Just to add, we tried a choccy fountain at a wedding fair yesterday and even my chocoholic daughter and partner both said 'don't want it' as it was too rich!!

Didn't think of that....the small ones are naff though, we already have one of those and have used it once lol. Also some places are funny about taking your own electrical items in so I don't think we would be allowed anyway.

I think that's twisted my arm then.....especially as chocoholics aren't impressed by one lol!!!

Ooohhh, now what could I spend the £350 on instead :think::think::rotfl:
