i wanna ... better night sleep.
All sugestions welcome.
I can't decide between getting a new double mattress (don't know about difference between types or brands) or a topper (foam or feathers) and would like suggestions and/or advice on what has (or hasn't) worked for you.
Looking to spend £150-£175 tops.
Currently on a sprung double that came with bed around 3 years ago.
All advice welcome.

my experience is that its not usually what your are sleeping on but whats going on in your mind when trying to sleep. Have you tried melatonin? I think you can only get it from the States though at the moment.
We have a foam mattress all zipped up in some kind of outer shell and it is really comfortable, not a spring in sight. Sorry can't be of much help as brother in law is in the foam industry and got it for us. We also topped it with one of those egg box shaped foam toppers!! Really recommend it but not sure where you can purchase them. Maybe someone out there knows? In mean time I'll try and find out.
Good luck in your search for good nights sleep. It is unwise to pay too much but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, all you lose is a little money... that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot...it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better (John Ruskin - 19 ctry author, art critic & social reformer)0 -
Agree with ruth about the thoughts stopping you dropping off...I tend to use Niteall...think thats how its spelt. Its a herbal sleep aid, works great! I got some relaxing cds in tesco for 50p and put them on when i go to bed, no lights on...candles is best.
Mattress wise...Silentnight do a great pillow-topped miracoil mattress medium/firm support in Argos for just over £200...havent looked online to see if its cheaper anywhere!
Hope this helps

Highly recommend memory foam toppers - have never slept so well. Mix that with Paul McKenna's loverly voice and I am in sleep heaven! The smallest deed is greater than the grandest intention ~ Anonymous0

Oh and Carol just saw your message - while candles are lovely - I would never recommend lighting them in the bedroom when trying to go to sleep!! The relaxing CD's yes but candles are far far too scary imho. The smallest deed is greater than the grandest intention ~ Anonymous0
