    Morning Mrs R,

I will look out for the book. Reminds me of my mother who is a real 'fur coat and no knickers, kind of woman'.

Her favourite saying is, 'if you only have two loaves, sell one and buy a lilly'.

She loves a glass of champagne for breakfast!

Always happy though, and well loved!

P.S. I did think of you when I heard about the Irish Mrs Robinson, it's a dangerous name to be associated with!!!!
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.
  • Hi Mrs R! You are always so busy! Hope money comes through for you they may surprise you!!
Well done on mr t balance a great acheivment and a great way to show it can be done!x
    BTD
  • Hi BTD and Scrooge. You're right BTD, am always busy - it's my default state! So whilst redundancy could be seen as a chance to slow down, am looking to it more as a chance to speed up! But this time doing the things that I want to do.

Like the sound of your mama, Scrooge - my kinda gal!

Today it was raining, so took the opportunity for a little "home spa" time. With a 98p tube of Nair, Poundland's £1 body butter and a wonderful face mask (bought at the school xmas fair, bizarrely, for 50p, unopened, but selling online (I looked) for £27.50 from a French cosmetics company) am now a lean, mean, MSE machine. Had my hair cut and coloured too yesterday as always like to keep on top of these things, but now do it the MSE way.

Have also worked out that my RBS CC balance divides neatly into 5 instalments of £322, so that's my target. Tight but probably do-able. Although Paris in April for the marathon with Mr R will set me back, perhaps. There again, we've booked our Eurostar tickets, so that's paid for, and we're just going to stay in one of the cheap chain hotels, so really trying to do it on the cheap this time. And it's not like he can go for massive blow out meals, either, with a 26 mile run to do. Massively looking forward to it as is my favourite European city (don't you know!).

On other matters MSE, going for my job seekers allowance interview on Monday. Think it's going to be quite an experience, but happy to jump through a few hoops to get the £250 ish a month. Is only what I've paid my NI for, after all.

    Good Morning Mrs R

Congrats on demolishing the Mr T card - well done & must feel great!:j

There is major envy happening wrt your pampering session - amazed how you managed to do it so cheaply - I'm currently making my way through every moisturizer and eye cream sample in the cupboard to put off the inevitable spend. Hopefully it won't be until February. Also putting off the hair colour until then - a few grey strands showing through at the temples, but neatly disguised by wearing hair down rather than being lazy and pulling it up in a twist!

Keeping all crossed that your 'interview' at the job centre goes well! I know how draining the process can be just to get what is rightfully yours! - When OH was made redundant two years ago it was the one thing he resented doing - but it did bring in the much needed cash & after 30 years of paying in he was due his slice!

  • Receievd my redundancy cheque - £12,517.09. Paid it into my current a/c so now have no OD! Am going to be moving it to my Egg online a/c and will then withdraw each month as if still had a salary! Can't decide whether to pay off my RBS card with it now, or just stick to my plan to pay that off every month. Doesn't make much difference either way as whichever way I do that, the plan involves paying off RBS - but now (good psychologically on one hand, bad on other as redundancy payment ebbing away) or by May (by paying 5 instalments of £322 each)?? Advice pl?? Will have to discuss with Mr R and get his take on it too. It's 0% so it's not like paying it off will save interest.......anyway just off to school, maybe another update later!

    Good Morning Mrs R!

    :jYeah to the settlement!:j

If there is no interest on your RBS then definately go the installment route.

In the meantime - you could put the installment money in a short-term investment or no penelty savings account that would give you some interest - no matter how little that is, it's more money in your pocket and less in the beast's!

How did the jobseeker's interview go - guessing silence on the subject means it was not the most pleasent of experiences? - Just remember it's your right to claim the money!!!!!

    Have a fabby week!

    Thanks for your post RT!

JSA all fine - Mrs R is woman of world and can take all things in stride!! Am only of course claiming the contributions one, and think the staff there have already sussed that I think this is all a big game, so am playing along with it, telling them about jobs I *might* be applying for - all genuine advertised posts, but am not sure that a *job* is for me, any more. Think it's more the self employed route I'll be going along, but we shall see. More of that, in a later-this-week post, am hoping.

As well as the i/v, had to "sign on" for first time last week too. Thought may have been given a few days grace, but no. All v pleasant though, a breeze in fact. So soon the extra money should start up - am not counting it into my budget as such, as intend to just draw on my redundancy pay as per salary, so will prob move the JSA into my online savings a/c for now, just to keep it all accounted for. And after signing on, intended to whistle round TK Max but had left purse at home! Divine intervention?

Have paid off O/D, and to save too many money swaps online, moved this month's "salary" across at same time. So now have only £8660.65 left! So soon, already, my pot diminishes. Still leaves about 6 months though.

Did have wicked thought, which was that, instead of making my first big payment to RBS, could pay minimum and invest the other £300 in something have wanted for long time....a little light "work" with some fillers on my "crows"...but think will stay strong. They're not bad, considering vast age, and they're not unattracive either, and as they will still be here when RBS card paid, should really wait for then. Anyway, just thought would confess that - did have one little line filled about 3 years ago, and amazingly, is still doing well, so think it "lasts" in me....anyway, feel free to offer discouraging noises.
