I will OD on chocolate with the stress of my life

Hi All, I'm feeling overwhelmed so please bear with me.

Couple of things that have me rattled today. Am due to be moving Friday and Saturday, emailed LA today to chase up tenancy agreement so I have a chance to have a really good read afore I sign.

she rang and said that LL wanted proof of the LHA I will be claiming before they will release keys.

Made it clear weeks ago I have to have tenancy agreement prior to making application because I have to provide evidence to support claim.

Posted here last week about this as a separate issue, was told as long as I could prove to council that property would be repo'd they would be fine. Well the letters started rolling in today so I have arrears letters in abundance. I also have my first letter today mentioning the repo possibility so can show them this too.

So my dilemma is-they both want proof before they will progress.

Managed to make LA understand that this cannot be done, the best I could do was to go ahead and make the application and forward the proof of the claim. She seemed ok with that but it's the LL's call on whether it's acceptable. I just went ahead and thought that I have to take the leap and make the application as I will have four weeks to present the paperwork. Did that online and forwarded them the submission email.

Now I have to sit it out and see if it's a go. I was hoping they would get back to me by the end of the day but now it looks like I won't find out until tomorrow at the earliest.

I wish they could understand how this makes me feel. All the planning and organising I have done in the past few weeks could all be for nothing.

If the LL needs to see the proof of acceptance they will be waiting for the second coming because I won't get a decision until they have the tenancy agreement.

Oh I just give up.

  • In very similar situations, I have visualised the moment I open my new door and walk around my new home with a smile exploring. Sounds daft, but somehow I've got gorgeous places that loads of people have wanted by doing so. Think positive, and it will be :)

I know I seem impatient, but I am supposed to be moving of four days and I haven't been officially accepted yet!

I guess things are just getting to me more than they normally would, and NR have been ringing the phone off the hook today. I spoke too soon of their silence in my thread yesterday.

Sheer frustration at not knowing, climbing the walls with wonder, annoyed because just can't get excited about a new start, Is it going to happen or not, am I going to have to experience any more sh*t in this process.. that's all I was feeling a few weeks back. I just didn't know either way. Massive ups and massive lows.

But, i'm here, happy, waiting to move like yourself - itching to get a new start but there's so much in my way still - just ofund out deposit on van to move is £250 - how am I going to get that??????????????????????

I'll get there somehow as will you.

I think no news is good news. It's the wondering whether you're going to have to deal with upset rather than dealing with the actual bad news I also think. An agreed date was made and no one has cancelled that. I have to say stay positive but I know it's a stupid thing to say. It's hard, so damn bludy hard

Thanks for that Miche, I just didn't need it all today! I've got a dining table that looks like the amazon in paper version, I'm tired, I need to do EVERYTHING, yet I don't want to do anything! Doesn't help I'm sat here on my own either I guess....

  • Hi Dollparts,

I was in same situation a while ago, agency told LL not to let us sign new contract but to leave it on rolling tenancy thinking that we would have less rights. I had in my honesty told them that I had given up my job and was going onto JSA till I found a more local one after mat leave. He panicked thinking that he wouldn't get rent though he'd told me that his previous tennant was on HB for 6 yrs, so they wouldn't send me a new tennancy agreement therefore I couldn't go ahead with HB claim.

The Council said that if I could get a letter from LL saying that I was liable for £X rent at X place then that would surfice for HB claim.

Ask the council what they think is best.
