How do I claim against a Partnership?

First off, many thanks to Martin and all the Board contributors. First endowment shortfall is nearly sorted thanks to you. However, the second one is causing a problem and, despite extensive WWW and Board searching, I can't find the answer. Here's hoping you've got it.
The IFA I bought the Friends Prov endowment from has gone bust and has just been declared "in default" by the FSCS. Consequently, the FSCS is now dealing with complaints. However, when I bought my policy the IFA was trading as a partnership and that partnership has not gone bust - consequently it is not "in default" and the FSCS is not addressing complaints about policies sold by the partnership.
So, here's my question: how do I make a claim against the partners? And how much more difficult is it make a claim stick (policy bought in March 92)?
Note that the letter from the FSCS says "If, after contacting the firm, you believe that the partners are unable to meet your claim for compensation please contact us as soon as possible" - (copyright acknowledged)
Any and all advice welcomed (but, gentle reader, if you have a question re your own policy, please start your own thread

Just write in and complain to the partnership, same as you did before.
If they say they are not responsible, won't deal with the complaint, take it back to the FSCS, as the latter says.
Sounds as though it's a bit of red tape at the FSCS - they need a formal "refusal to take responsibility" letter from the partnership for their files before they can do anything, maybe..Trying to keep it simple...0
