Those in Debt more Impulsive - Duh!

New research has found that people who are poor money savers are also more likely to have other general impulsive behaviours such as overeating, smoking and infidelity, according to a new study led by UCL researchers, published in the journal Personality and Individual Differences.
It was part of BBC survey that offered people £45 in 3 days or £70 in 3 months - those who opted for the first are more likely to be fat smokers who cheat on their partners apparently!!!

Not sure if I agree with it all, but I think the fact people in debt are more impulsive is probably fairly obvious; anyone else agree? Bit like saying overweight people eat more....!

To be honest, I would agree with it to a certain extent.
It's all about self-discipline really, so people who struggle with self discipline when it comes to spending are likely to have the same problem with other areas of their lives.
Although with that particluar situation with taking £45 in 3 days, or £70 in 3 months - choosing the former might not mean you are 'worse' with money. It might be that a person has a temporary bad cash flow, so taking £45 in 3 days would be more beneficial to them than waiting a longer period of time.
All these surveys and polls are always a bit of a generalisation and might not take into consideration other factors.
I think these people should spend their money and time more wisely!!
HSBC Loan [STRIKE]£5845.83[/STRIKE] £2500 Barclay Card [STRIKE]£1085.76[/STRIKE] £592.74 Barclays Overdraft [STRIKE]£1100[/STRIKE] £600
Virgin Card £273
Total Debt:[STRIKE] £8228.96[/STRIKE] £3965.74

I definately agree with this!
Having suffered living with a family with no money when I was younger, I then turned 18 and the spending went through the roof, because I had nothing and so wanted everything!
The smoking is just another thing to spend your money on and your money is quite literally going up in smoke. Sociological studies have shown that in general it used to be the rich people that smoked; now it is the poor people...
The overeating, I do agree with this, but I don't think that it happens in all cases just probably the majority because people use food as a comfort when they are sad and being in debt is not a happy time for the majority of us!

I assume fat smokers must get plenty of offers to cheat on their partners.0 -
