Semi permanent colour better for hair than permanent?

hi
I'm taking the plunge and dying my hair ... am 37, and the greys are starting to come through
Is a semi permanent less harsh than a permanent colour? I know I did a nice and easy a few years back and it knackered the condition completely, so I don't want to go through that again!
I've got a Casting one ready to go, please let me know?
thanks

Hi , my MIL has very fine hair, she does not do permanent.. ( she has a lot of grey) cos she is scared of the roots showing plus the condition of her hair... she only do semi permanent ( no amonia) and the shampoos with colors in between, she gets them for 0.99 in Superdrugs or Boots, her hair is in a nice condition. i hope this helps.Mejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0

My colourist only uses semi permanents. They seem pretty permanent to me but they fade gently making the regrowth less obvious. I have grey to cover too!0

thank you ....
well I've taken the plunge tonight and am really pleased with the result - it's only a bit darker than my own brown, but lovely tones, so am looking forward to seeing it in daylight tomorrow.
glad it's the "kinder" way of getting rid of those greys!

I was use Herbal permanent, but now I tried Excell10, very similar formula,(glicyne), £ 3.99 in Savers, last one month. I tried semi permanent but fade after two washes.0
