Thats the problem with these type of threads, as there is a huge split between those who dont believe/couldnt give a fig and the fervent tree huggers.

I was once a tree hugger and did everything in my power to be green, but one day re-discovered by "Gecko" ethos and now really couldnt care less.

So does truth exist? Is it worth being green or not? Is it important to do everything in your power to be green, or is it ok to have a 'couldn't care less' attitude?

Do the greenies do it for some personal satisfaction, rather than the benefit of the planet and future generations?
Are the non-greens just being selfish?
    Is 'I don't care' a valid opinion?
What part does 'live and let live' play in this debate?
    What's the middle ground?

Global warming is one of the greatest myth's of the 21st Century and one day we will discover it and move on to some other fear-mongering epidemic to help governments fill their coffers with your money through higher taxation.

another category to add: f) too busy showing off to be the least bit concerned that they might be destroying our planet!!!

I personally believe that the single biggest thing wrong with our society is the "show-off" gene which appears to have taken over from both common sense and common decency since the birth of the original "Yuppies" in the 80's.

Couldn't agree with you more about the 'show off' mentality that exists in todays society. It's right up there with 'live from weekend to weekend just so we can get drunk' mentality. Dare I mention Maggies "No such thing as society, only individuals" quote.....hmmmmmm....

There seems to be no individual accountability / responsibilty today. The 'I couldn't care less' attitude is unfortunately a pandemic that is resulting in the decline in the planets health. Fortunately there are enough people out there who do care. I believe we/they will do enough to save the planet but all will result is the lazy couldn't care less group will end up saying "see, there wasn't really a problem in the first place" and we will just end up here again. That is until nature finaly has enough of us and wipes us out! ;)

Not green at all, the green factor doesnt enter into my buying criteria, My criteria is Price, availability, brand, user reviews, industry reviews etc
Here is a good point for people
i recently started my own company selling super bright LED direct replacement lights. and i am amazed at the amount of so called green companies, who i could save them thousands of pounds and drastically reduce there C02 more often than not reply ( it's not something we are looking at at the moment).

And you will be suprised, i have spoken to large garden centres and large public house chains.

The best of luck to all of you out there who want to make the change.

  • Hello,

Posting this reply to help you stay green and still save money and as information sharing purpose only.

It is very interesting to see all the responses on being green. Yes, also accept price is a major concern especially when we are in a recession.
If you are looking for a green electricity supplier please check our LoCO2 Energy Tariffs for your region.

You can then decide which tariff is good for you based on your budget and level of concern for the environment.

    Thanks,

    LoCO2 Energy Ltd
