Triton Credit Services Problems

Has anyone else had experience of dealing with these people. If so can anyone tell me the average time it takes them to present a cheque.

I had a debt with Natwest which I was paying monthly without problem until these people got involved. Firstly they advised payments hadn't been received, payments which I'd been making by standing order. To cut a long story short I was sent the usual you have defaulted on a payment letter and threatened with legal action etc. I ended up having to pay a month by debit card on top of a cheque payment. I wasn't surprised to see my standing order payment returned to me however later in the month. They also hassled me a fair bit to try and get me to pay off the debt, this stopped after I advised that Citizens Advice handled my finacial situation.

I cancelled the standing order and have been paying by cheque each month, however I note this month the cheque hasn't even been cashed yet, my payment is due on the 5th (September) of the month which is now past (cheque was sent on 12th August).

Does anyone know where you stand if you've definitely sent them payment and they claim they haven't received it, just incase it happens? I'm about to write them a cheque for next month and can do without them requesting an extra payment, then presenting a cheque they supposedly haven't received.

Any advice appreciated.

    Hi NorfolkLupin and Welcome

Not sure I can answer your questions specifically but one possible answer could be some creditors will provide you with a payment card, whereby you can go to a bank or post office and pay your money across that way. That should save future similar problems.
Otherwise a standing order is usually the recommended way to pay. Was your SO being refused due to insufficent funds in your account or did it appear not to be reaching triton's bank account? Are you certain you had the correct details on the SO? The account you need to pay your SO to should have changed when the debt went from Natwest to Triton.

As an aside I wouldn't ever make a debit card payment to a DCA as this gives them your bank details and there are instances of the more unscrupulous DCAs taking further money without your authority, or sometimes someone makes a payment one month and the DCA claims they agreed for it to be taken from the debit card every month.
