in Cutting tax
Thought I'd spend an empty half hour completing my SA form -and am now struggling to understand !!!!!! it's doing!
Got 1 full time job and 2 other part (very part) time jobs delivering education workshops, one for only 5 weeks of the year in Sept/Oct and the other 3 hour workshops throughout the year but not a lot of income, under £1500.00. Get PAYEd for all 3.
Put them in again, just like last year. Asked me for bank interest after tax - put that it, nothing else to declare except some GiftAid monies - pressed calculate and it pops up that I owe £220.00 and reads that my bank interest was £150.00 more than I put in and that I have to pay some tax on this (included in the £220.00).
How can this be? Am baffled...and would appreciate some help here please.

Go back and check through it carefully and make sure you put the savings interest in the correct box.
The actual calculation will show the gross amount for savings even though you have to put in the net amount.
Are you a higher rate taxpayer?0 -

Thanks for the info - however I went back three times and put it in. And no. Can see that the figure for the interest is as you say, thanks!
Will probably have to take this to my local office and sit down with them there. Still baffled!0
