Shops that leave their lights on all night! Grrrr - do your bit

I have noticed that some companies (for example 02 stores) leave their monitors on all night every night. I have just written to them pointing out there (lack of) efforts to be green. I will let you know their reply if I get one.
Perhaps you guys would consider doing the same to either 02 or any other such (stupid) company.
It annoys me then as we all try to do our bit, companies just carry on regardless. It is just wrong.

Most computers have power savings built into them, where the monitor goes onto standby automatically. Where i work, our computers are never turned off!!!!:beer:In My 'Permanant' Pre-Masters Gap Year

Its not the PC being switched off but actually the monitors are on all night - showing the "log in" screen rather than a dark screensaver or being on standby0

There is a lot of waste in business unfortunately
I remember a program on tv some months back where it showed a large office block at night all lit up with a few cleaners in, they said they could cut there energy use my a lot with careful planning and using energy efficient lights
It annoys me when I try and save energy/money and yet I see every day waste, we can all do our bit, government its seems are one of the worse offender on wastage0 -
At my place of work they leave the lights on all night. I was told once that it costs more to keep switching them on and off than to keep them on all the time. Sounds like BS to me but maybe someone else can work out whether it's true or not?0

My local council offices are completely blacked out at night bar the front desk. Used to be like Piccadilly Circus.0

LOL at Picadilly Circus comment. Actually I suggested to our office that they buy some of these to save $$$$ in the long run and do their bit

Can be bought from Currys, Comet, etc, etc and cost next to nothing0
