Wedding veils

Just wondered if any one had any money saving ideas on buying wedding veils?

I've fallen in love with a cathedral length veil with satin trim and crystal detail in my local bridal store but can not justify the 200 pound price tag when i'll probably take if off as soon as the photographs are finished!

I've looked on Landy and Milly but they seem to have very limited selection of veils:confused:

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks

Have you tried looking on ebay?
    :p
  • I got mine from this seller http://shop.ebay.co.uk/venus_veils/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=

I am happy with the veil, think it is good value for money and was pleased with the amount of choice available

I got mine from the wedding veil shop . co . uk (I am a new poster so can't put links up yet! Grrr!) - got it made bespoke, so you can have what you like made up.

Wedding veiling is extremely cheap to buy as is the satin bias to edge it with. Contact a dressmaker to whip one up for you or if you know anyone handy with a needle, DIY. Happy to provide instructions and web site for veiling http://www.cheapfabrics.co.uk/thestore/product_info.php/cPath/87_83/products_id/672?osCsid=crkchfeknd43p577pha6dsv3r6 there ya go.
  • Thanks for that Linda -much appreciated! Would love to have the instructions too!

For a short veil you are looking at a circular shape. For longer and especially cathedral length more of a rectangle with curved edges.
You can actually buy a patten http://img.sewingtoday.com/cat/20000/itm_img/V8569.jpg which when you cost it still works out cheaper to DIY. Clear combes ban be bought from claires I think.

http://www.bridallace.com/ also supply veils which may be cheaper. You'd need to enquire.

MIL to be is very handy with a needle so am sure she will be willing to help me with a DIY version - i love the idea of making it ourselves.

I was thinking I'd like a veil, but worried that at 39 (by the time I get hitched) I may be too old???? Any thoughts??
