    Why not save some money?

You can make up your own if you have an old hard drive. Buy an enclosure for around £15 and you are away!

Also I saw a usb to ide convertor the other day in maplin - just plug into the back of a hard drive and then into your usb - no casing though just a cable which supplies the power to the hard drive as well as transfering the data. I thought about concealing the hard drive in something cheap and inocuose on your desk and no one would be any wiser.
Aint got a signature - as I cant think of anything world wisely to say.

The Maplin IDE/USB conveter is fantastic. I have a couple. I mainly use them for 2 things:

    1. A friends PC refuses to boot. Well I pop the HD out and can save all their data without opening up my case

    2. I have an IDE DVD writer which I can switch between PCs as required to back them up. This is because 1 PC has all the photos, and another has a Freeview card, so I can turn TV shows into DVDs

    Coolio!

Hi Des, don't know if you can help me here but I bought on of the usb/ide converters but apparently it won't work without a separate power source - is that correct?

    Cheers
