if they have a record you said she was just travelling, say she's decided to stay over there, when she comes back, say she changed her mind!!

Bob the Saver and elfen - firstly council will want daughter's address. Secondly if mother makes false statements she is then guilty of CT fraud.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
  • Bob the Saver - there is an alternative, reregister the car in Greece, pay their road fund licence equivalent, then reregister on return to UK.

I think continuing to pay UK car tax is a simpler option though.

I'm sure it is simpler, I took Greece as an example, perhaps a bad one

I'm in France now paying their 'Road Tax' in with the fuel price and I as it's for less than 6 months, not on a permanent basis re-registering wouldn't be an option.

It's the principle of Paying Gordon (again) for something I'm not using whilst already paying another EU country in full for what I am using.

Not suggesting she does.....I was just wondering!

lincroft -if she's over 18 they have no reason to ask for it. She's an adult, she can move where she damn well likes.

Bob - it could be the law in some countries that if a car visiting from another country isn't legal in its own country then it's not legal in the country being visited.

elfen - no doubt CIS will correct me if I am wrong but if someone notifies the council they are moving out, the council require them to provide their new address. If she's under 18 it doesn't actually matter as she's exempt from CT payments.

Why? So they can send them a card saying "Welcome to your new home"?

    This is the case,
but it's like saying I have to pay Gordon the duty on the beer I
would have drunk if I'd stayed in the UK.
French car drivers don't have to buy a Tax disc when they go over to the UK
and they aren't paying the extra French 'Road use' Taxes on the petrol they buy in the UK WIN-WIN for the French, LOSE-LOSE for the Brits.

Sorry to OP the-optimist for straying from the point.
