You can buy the books cheaper wholesale than usborne sell to their agents.0

If you contact the Usborne Books at Home office through their website, they should be able to put you in touch with a local organiser. Do you want someone to cover an event?0 -
Hi Millie,
I have a few people in Leeds in my team - drop me a pm with what you're after and I'll see if I can get someone to help you.

With Amazon I can get free delivery if the book is over £5.
I guess it is like people who buy from Waterstones, who sell mainly at RRP. The only bonus to the customer is that they get the book there and then. With Usbourne I would think you would need to carry the books in stock and give it to the customer when they pay.
A lot of work places have the Book People - always popular as they carry the latest books at a discount price (cheaper than buying from Waterstones).0 -
Schools and libraries don't buy from Tesco or Amazon. They come to to the Usborne agents, which is where huge profits can be made.0

I wasn't criticising Kleeneze. Sorry you felt I was. I was comparing the cost. I have done Kleeneze but it wasn't for me.
No worries, apology accepted and i'm sorry if you felt that I was having a go at you in returnI just wanted to ensure that people understood that your comparisons weren't direct comparisons so that they could make up their own minds.

That's a good point actually - Waterstones and other companies who sell mainly at RRP obviously make a profit even though thousands of people do buy online from play.com/amazon/ebay etc. If there was no profit in selling books at RRP then these companies would have given up by now.
Some people prefer to be able to see the books or have interaction with the seller, some don't trust using their card details online, some don't have Internet access or aren't confident about using the Internet, some people prefer buying from a store/person incase something goes wrong etc... there is definitely a market for Usborne Reps.Caroline73 wrote: »Schools and libraries don't buy from Tesco or Amazon. I agree that a lot of schools do use Usborne, but i'd say you'd be incorrect in saying that they don't buy online. Whilst I was in sixth form, I did work experience in our school library so know for a fact that we used to order books online and including from Amazon, and some of teachers used to order textbooks from Amazon too.Success' of 2012:-Debts:Student Loans: £28,7580 -
The major point to realise here with regard to schools is that Usborne Orgainsers are in the unique position to advise teachers as to the best books suitable for their children. There are various resources used by organisers to help in that process.
Also, schools and party hosts and even individuals showing the main catalogue to their friends have the chance to get free products something stores and supermarkets are highly unlikely to offer their customers except perhaps under the guise of bogof.
Usborne have been around for 30 years. Not sure how long they have used the network marketing approach but it's not going to go away anytime soon.
Incidentally, you can build a business internationally as well as in Britain.
