Lawnmower won't start

Hi, I hope someone can help me. I've got a Victus Petrol lawnmower with Emak engine, 140cc. It's been working fine and always started second pull until recently. I wasn't sure how old the fuel was in it or if it even had the right oil in it, but it worked well. I've drained the oil and petrol tonight and replaced with new, but still no joy. It did start a couple of days ago after about 20 pulls and ran for about 30 seconds then cut out. Any ideas anyone? Could it be dirt in the fuel or a problem with the spark plug? Many thanks, Jon-Paul.

Try a new spark plug.
I have is the past 'cured' the reluctance of the mower to start by taking out the spark plug and warming it (well hold it with pliers and get it too hot to hold) on the gas stove and replace it and try to start the mower with the hot spark plug.
Has always worked for me (so far).0 -
my husband services mowers and has a couple of suggestions:# could be decompressor valve problem if there is one, or blocked exhaust,
victus are 2 stroke so a blocked exhust could be your problem.
Hope this worksJp5isalive wrote: »Hi, I hope someone can help me. I've got a Victus Petrol lawnmower with Emak engine, 140cc. It's been working fine and always started second pull until recently. Hi KeithP and Budget, many thanks for your suggestions. I took the plug out after your pieces of advice and gave it a good clean. It's been working well till yesterday, when it would only start with the lever in the START position, even when warmed up. I've taken the plug out again tonight and the spark end is really black again.
Cleaned it again and the same is happening, it will only start with the choke on/in START position, runs for maybe 20 seconds then cuts out.
Thanks for your advice Keith, I haven't tried a new plug yet as I don't know who makes it. It's got no branding on it, only lettering: NHSP LD F7RTC. Apparently, the NHSP part is the equivalent to an NGK B8ES spark plug, but I'm not sure if this is the right plug for my mower. I'm open to quick fixes bit I'm in the middle of selling the mower on Ebay, so need it to start straight away if people come to view or buy it.
Thanks also to Budget. Maybe your husband may be able to shed some light on the matter as I'm pretty confused now, haha. It's a 4 stroke Victus and the exhaust seems clear as it's blowing the fumes out like a good 'un with quite a bit of force, but isn't smoky.
Any ideas? The mower may sell within the next 5 days so I need to fix the problem or find a new plug asap. Nightmare.
I'm not sure if it has a decompressor valve or not. How could I find out of it has one or not?0
