Pre 1985 Endowments

I have an endowment policy that was taken out in 1983, the original advisor is no longer in business and the FSA cannot provide any assistance with the mis-selling because it commenced pre 1885.

Do I have any avenues that I can persue regarding the mis-selling of this policy.

The advisor was the estate agent I purchased the house through who has now gone out on business

Nope. You are out of options if sold by an IFA but if sold by a representative of the insurer, you may still be able to complain.

A 1983 policy does get LAPR and you would have had significant savings due to MIRAS tax relief in the early years so even if you could complain and it was upheld, I would be surprised if there would be any compensation available.

i was in a similar position with an endowment taken out in 1984. i managed to track down the company who had bought out the company who mis-sold to me and have sucessfully claimed compensation recently. did you buy through a financial advisor based in estate agents?
