Scottish Power keep phoning

Can anyone help?
OH is being chased by debt collectors for money owed to Scottish Power. OH left property in mid Feb and is being chased for readings up to end of April. They phoned him and told him he owed £200 for this period so he gave our new address as we'd moved twice for work. The letters started arriving saying the outstanding amount is over £600, the debt collector have put interest/admin fees and are threatening court action and bailiffs. He has asked they not phone him and has written to them asking they not phone him and provided the copy of his notice letter. Which they have said they have not recived he has emailed them twice with exactly the same letter he has posted yet they are still phoning him.

I don't think he provided a meter reading when he moved out which is why they are chasing up to the end of april. He has asked that they provide copies of the meter readings and the dates of the readings as he moved out in febuary. He agrees he owes money but is refusing to pay £800 for 2 months. He hasn't put that on the letter though

Can anyone offer any advice on what best to do?

    Hi

He must provide the end of tenancy agreement or letter. He really should have given readings and kept a note of them, obviously he didn't. Its on him to prove he left on the dates he said, not on SP to prove anything. He should keep a record of everything hes send to them and every phone call. Also provide any paperwork of the date he moved into new place. If all fails you need to contact consumerdirect who are now the first point of contact if you are in deadlock with supplier. They will advise you of write letter to write giving all revelant info, if problem persists they can at a later point send you the energy ombudsmen who will rule on it and there decision is final on both parties. If your vulnerable or disabled or a complex problem a special team can assist but only through consumer direct referral.

Hope this helps as it the correct way to deal with a complaint.
    Good luck

Thanks for the info, we have copies of the notice letter and a copy of our new contract dated mid feb, which also states work provide accomadation. It's also 60 miles from where we were so there's no way they can say we were commuting!
