I can't seem to find the right place to ask this question so am starting here as it's my home from home at the moment!!! Someone please move it if there's a better forum!
I do a bit of voluntary work including visiting an old lady who is an avid talking book listener. I often collect them from the library for her. Mostly she asks me from the online catalogue what to get but at other times she just says - you know what I like, get something similar. I wondered if there was a website that has this info, so I could put in say an authors name that she has read and liked and ask for another author who does similar stuff. Does this make sense?
I've googled but not found anything that really fits the bill. Thanks
DS

Try librarything.com
You can create a personal library and when you click on the title of a book it comes up with suggestions based on items in other users libraries and tags they have been given. It's fairly huge so you should get lots of suggestions. I use it a fair bit (for cataloguing my personal collection like the uber-geek that I am) and I love it.0 -
Thanks twink
Yes I've used librarything too, for work as well as home but haven't been back for a bit. All the tags/networking/hugeness etc got a bit much when all I wanted was a simple online catalogue. I'll revisit.

There's a reference book in my library called something like "Who writes like..." I just googled it to see if I could find the correct name and author and found this link...

The library may have lists of whose-work-is-similar-to...... Ours often have a theme event and posters and bookmarks tell you that if you like, say, John Grisham then you may enjoy Richard North Patteson etc.0
