Help with cleaning/house chores schedule

Now the children have gone back to school I should have more time on my hands that I want to enjoy. At the moment always seem to be tidying, cleaning, ironing, washing and catching up with household paperwork etc. Would like a day at weekend where nothing needs doing rather than always chasing our tail. How do you keep your home in order, whats your weekly/daily routines. Have had a look at Flylady but don't think I would get on with that. Any ideas please?

Have you seen the Old Style Flylady thread  There's a daily list posted, with suggested tasks, in a different room each day :T

I'll add this thread to that one later.

I drew a grid on a piece of A4 paper. 7 squares across the top and 5 down. Into each square I wrote a daily job. eg wash whites Monday, clean bathroom Tuesday, change beds Wednesday.

Fill them in with what you need to do.

I don't do anything on a weekend. Uniforms are washed Friday after school.

I can't get on with fly lady, I think I might try your idea instead!

I couldn't/can't do flylady either. By the time I got rid of all her reminders I'd lost all motivation!

Flylady is actually easier than it seems and can be adapted. I (and others) don't always do everything on the day it is listed, or even all the levels. What I find helpful about it is the encouragement from the other flyers and the general atmosphere on the thread.

Encouragement always works better than judgement.
