A couple of possibly stupid questions......

Hi all,

I'm planning on making a fish pie this evening. Its just me and DH and in the past we would have eaten the whole thing between the two of us. Not good for my wallet or every expanding waistline! Can I freeze the leftovers for another night? Its just a standard mixed fish pie, roux and mash.

I would also like to make some flapjacks. This may sound silly but what is the difference between porridge oats and rolled oats? Most of the recipes state rolled oats but I have a bag of value porridge oats in the cupboard. Can I use these?

Thanks,

Muso x

    Hi,
As long as the fish hasn't been frozen previously in a cooked state, then yes you can freeze it (cooked frozen prawns added to fish pie can be an issue with freezing).

As for oats, yup value porridge oats work fine ;)

you can freeze fish pie - are you putting in any prawns? If so, you might need to be careful if they've been frozen before ;)

AFAIK, porridge oats are sometimes rolled and sometimes in between that size, jumbo or pinhead. The name rolled just means that the flakes of oats have been rolled to remove the bran - it also indicates a size larger than pinhead but smaller than jumbo. I use any old porridge oats for flapjacks.

No, no prawns going in it, so will freeze it.

    Off to make my flapjacks..........
