When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :D:j

Morning everyone - woo hoo the weekend is here already:beer:

    Morning All,

Hello to everyone who posts today.

I have confused matters today by starting the thread then noticing that Milly had started it and I could not delete mine! Anyhow, onwards and upwards!

    Today I have/will:
    • Checked online banking – payday so moved money around
    • Meals from storecupboards
    • Have an LSD
    • Put change into my coke bottle
    • Update spending diary….so far this month I have spent £0….I need to have about 25 NSD’s for this month. I allow myself £50 per month and would like to start saving this.
    • Enter comps online
    • Work overtime (1 hour before work, ¼ hour at lunchtime and ¾ hour after work)
    • Look into opening another account for an online sealed pot
    • Look into a high interest savings account for hubby and I (emergency/deposit/new car account just in case)
    • Put a jumper on rather than putting the heating on

Think that is about it – take care everyone

    Candy xxxx

Debts at the start of my journey - about £23,000 lightbulb moment 01.03.2007 (1st payment to CCCS)..Debt Free Date 25.06.2013 Deposit savings £17,000/£30,000

    Good morning,

Thank you to Milly and Candy for starting the thread :D Better two than none at all!!!

Fay thank you for asking after DD yesterday, I didnt get back to the thread so only just saw it! She is perking up now the antibiotics are kicking in, but still not eating very much so hasnt got much energy. She needs feeding up!

Having a bit of a crisis at the moment tho. DH's 17 yr old son was here last night & we have found out something that has happened that has rather shocked us all - without going into too much detail, step son (who is now at college) has been having some sort of "thing" with a teacher from his old school.:eek::eek: (female teacher, I will add, just to clarify.)

We are a bit shell shocked, to say the least. The teacher is mid 30s, married with a small child.:eek: Not really sure what we are going to do yet. Stepson is adamant the school should not find out, because - I quote - "she will lose everything". AND???!!!!!!

DH has gone to work this morning after not much sleep, his head is cabbaged, mine not much better!!

    Anyhowwwww

    - Check online banking
    - Quidco clicks
    - Home with DD so connect 4 & monopoly
    - Clean bathroom floor
    - Finish shopping list & meal plan ready for shopping tomorrow

Have a good day everyone xxxx

    Morning all!
Flipping 'eck Mogchops - that's serious stuff! Hope things start to work themselves out for you all.

Just an update on my recent small worries - the wedding dress fitted (size 10:j)! Phew!!! Have had a good few sleepness nights over that! I can take the bra and one pair of giant pants back to M&S as they're not needed - get a £30 or so refund - that's good as I'm still waiting to get all of the student finance stuff through - grrrr!!
The hair and make up trials went well - need to tone the make up down a bit on the day but the har was fab first time (I was the most overdressed person on the M6 yesterday afternoon!). The venue seems to have everything totally under control - just a few small jobs to do for me and then we're ready! 4 weeks tomorrow - arrrrgggghhh!

Today is my last official day off before starting uni on Monday - that's scary too - no wonder I'm not sleeping much lately - the good news is I've lost 2lbs this week mostly through stress and not sitting still for more than 5 mins!

    Today's list...
    • Put cheque in bank
    • Take horrrible pants and bra back to M&S for a refund
    • Write shopping list for the weekend
    • Write mealplan for next week
    • Phone student finance again - must be about 100 times this week - can never get through
    • Phone wedding dress shop to find out where dress straps are
    • Check banks - looking quite unhealthy now - need the student money to get deposited pronto!
    • Walk dog for free exercise -one down two to go
    • Bath dog
    • Hoover and dust downstairs
    • Do one wash and dry on airer (no hope of drying outside today!)
    • Put clean washing away
    • Read a bit more of teaching book
    • May be go swimming later - need to make sure the frock still fits in 4 weeks!
That'sit for today - sorry about the long post - got carried away!
