Hi thanks for reassuring reply bootman and thanks for nice reply sarah!!!! ... and thanks for all other advice & postive replies etc!!
Just to put people's mind at rest I did e-mail them as was slightly concerned when confirmation e-mail was for a years subscription. They explained this was because it is only the four issues of the full years sub. that are free so we (anyone who applied) must cancel after 4 weeks even though cc details were not taken. If you don't cancel after 4 weeks you will get an invoice. Anyway following was reassuring (was bit wordy so have copied most of it but excluded repetition etc);
Dear ...
Thank you for your e-mail.
Our recent subscription offer invited you to receive free trial issues of TIME Magazine with no obligation, and the opportunity, if you like TIME, to continue the subscription for a full service period (usually 54 issues ...) .....
When we send notification of the .. subscription, we quote the full service period (eg 54 issues .... sic including) inclusive of any trial issues.
You are still under no obligation to continue your subscription, and can
enjoy your trial issues with our compliments. If you do not wish to continue, simply return any notification received from us marked 'CANCEL'. Alternatively, you can cancel online at www.timeeurope.com/customerservice , or inform us by email or telephone.
If we can be of any further assistance, do not hesitate to contact us.
Yours sincerely,
TIME magazine
