Selling Books Online?

Hi,
I have loads and loads and loads of books at home, I am always buying them! I am taking most of the paperbacks to a charity shop, but I have LOADS of hardbacks that haven't even been read, autobiographies, educational textbook etc that are in like new condition.
Anyone know where I can sell them, pref not auction style (eBay, amazon, play etc) For example, there are lots of sites where you type in the ISBN code, and they say how much they will pay you for it (pretty much like the mobile phone / cd / dvd sites) and they even pay the p+p.....problem is I can only find ones based in the USA! I don't have much spare time so I need an easy way to do this, might just take them all to the charity shop but I really could do with the cash at the moment!!!!
I know abebooks do it, anyone know of any others?
Thank you

Hello!
have you thought about putting a table up outside your house one weekend? works really well and you get to meet you neighbours, (you may not want to though lol)!
Also see if you have a local bookstore that buys, mine will give me good prices and know when a book is old/rare and pays accordingly.
I tried to sell loads of my books on ebay, some went ok but postage costs ment pretty much no profit, but at least i got some space back.
Good luck, and if you find a good online way of selling let me know!!0 -
Amazon and Play trade are not auction sites they are fixed price. It is exactly as you say you want, you put the isbn in and it gives you the current price that people are selling the item for.
Ex chart hardbacks are rarely worth selling due to high postage costs, btu text books and odd quirky books cna go very well.
For lighter books take a look at https://www.greenmetropolis you get a fixed price of £3 (2nd class postage on a standard paperback is £1.85 BTW) so you can turn a £1 + profit if you sell. The stuff moves slowly though as the buyer pays £3.75 which is of course more than they can get paperbacks for in supermarkets.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. thank you, you two
will think about having a table out if the weather is nice! green metropolis sounds good too, might just let the charity shop have them to be honest in the end!
i'll let you know how it goes!0 -
I tried to sell all my uni books when I graduated. Some of those books cost me £50 and were still new looking when I tried to sell them on Amazon - there's so much competition that I was looking to make no money whatsoever so I took them to a car boot instead and got about a fiver each for the very good ones. Thanks to amazon, even selling on ebay is no good, as Amazon can undercut them.I'll have some cheese please, bob.0

I sell books on amazon all the time; I listed a load last weekend, and they were selling quicker than I could list! It does depend on what titles you are listing, but it is well worth checking what the prices would be on there and listing them if they aren't in the way. I made at least £30 at the weekend. Am listing more this weekend as well. Yes you have to pay fees to Amazon, but they give you a good postage amount. I don't list very heavy textbooks generally unless I will get at least £20 for them, because these cost more than the postage amount to cost. Feel free to PM me if you need help / advice!0

Has anyone had much luck with Green Metropolis? I have posted a few books on there, two in March/April time and then another 3 or 4 last week but have heard nothing. Don't know whether it's worth keeping them listed on there and listing them on Amazon as well? Has anyone got any tips for how to sell books on the site?[STRIKE]Halifax =£35
American Express=£70[/STRIKE]
HSBC=£15,000 - now £12,000
Cahoot=£6500 - now £5200
Mint = £4950 - now £4099

Just thought I'd add that now would be a very good time to list textbooks - the new academic year is just starting and lots of students will be looking for cheap textbooks. May even be worth advertising on local university forums if they allow it... you could knock a quid off if they collect and that will save you on postage too.0
