Birthday treats - on a budget

Hiya everyone - just wanted to tap in to everyone's expertise!
It's my OH's birthday on Sunday and I need some MSE ideas on making a really nice day for him.
He has been really good to me lately and has even paid for a couple of meals out with my friends when I thought I was going stir crazy dealing with my debts.
I have £29 left of my birthday budget, to spend on him, but have not bought a card or cake yet!
Any suggestions welcome (he's not a soppy soul, so a cosy day snuggled up on the sofa would be his idea of hell!)
Thanks for any suggestion you can offer!
Oh - he'll be 38 by the way!

Right first off, make a cake. Even if you are not a great cook you can knock up some fairycakes and some cheapie candles ( wilkos for about 25p).
then you could go either out for a meal with the rest of the money ( perfectly acceptable budget for meal for 2) or you could make something at home (whatever his fave is) Id do a burned CD or something like that
Im not a particularly crafty person at all, but id save the money for somethng "decent" personally, Id spend the rest on fireworks cos my OH loves em lol:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
how about making him a cd of his fave tunes? like complilation album for the car or something. nothing soppy!!
I would make him a cake! i tend to always make cakes for peoples birthdays now! i think they appreciate the thought that is put into it (even if mine probably taste terrible!)0 -

A home made book of vouchers. Not the saucy ones, but for what blokes really care about. e.g. 'I owe you three Saturdays watching the footy on telly withut moaning, during which I will fetch all your beers for you."Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -

Thanks for these ideas.
I like the idea of the footie-based ones - I'm a big fan too!
The CD thing is a bit trickier - he's a TS officer so they are not allowed to have copied cds and dvds and stuff!0 -
Just had a look of froogle.co.uk, inflatable chairs shaped like a football from a tenner, so well under budget. Could buy via pigsback as well for your piggypoints..Debt free 4th April 2007.

He's mad on Boro - and has been a season ticket holder for 19 years.
I have already got him a signed dvd and flag from when they won the carling cup, which I bought at a charity auction - he has no idea!
I want to get him a special UEFA scark (£5.99) as he is off to the final on Wednesday in Holland (sking girlfriend has to stay at home!)
I know this is quite a lot of stuff, but am looking for finishing touches really. He took me to Oslo for 5 days for my birthday and we stayed in a 5* suite in v posh hotel - and he bought me a digital camera!0 -
that should say Uefa scarf - I can't spell!0
