My ex wife and I split over ten years ago and I have always paid what CSA have asked for £400 a month for my one son. He left school and went to college to do a pre uniform course as he wants to join the Royal Navy. He did 2 years on this course and has now left college. He has passed all of his entry exams with the Navy and they have told him he should get a date to join about Febuary. His mother has told him he will have to go back to college as she cant afford to keep him, I still pay at the moment as CSA have not told me any differant but I believe that would stop this September. He is 19 this December so even if he went back to college my payment would stop then wouldnt it ? I have never missed a payment in ten years but getting a bit fed up of more demands. We both remarried but she has split again about a year ago.

It follows the child benefit age limits normally. Child benefit ends on the child's 19th birthday at the latest. So does child support. Once your son reaches 19, your ex wont qualify for child benefit, child support or tax credits etc. Sending him back to college isn't going to help her (should have said "for long") I don't believe.August GC 10th - 10th : £200 / £70.61

This is the CSA's definition of a "child" ...
Child
For child maintenance purposes, a child is anyone under 16 or someone between 16 and 19 who:- is not, nor has ever been, married or in a civil partnership, and
- is in full-time non-advanced education.
Also, anyone aged 16 or 17 who is not in education, is not working and does not receive employment-related benefits is defined as a child for child maintenance purposes.August GC 10th - 10th : £200 / £70.61

If he goes back to college to study further education, then CSA payments will continue as the PWC should still be in receipt of child benefit. In this case, your CSA payments will continue until his 19 birthday, after which, liability for payments will cease.
CSA liability should cease after the first Monday in September should he not return to further education.Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. Debt at highest approx £102,000. Debt now (October 2009 - absolutely fork all!!!)

She won't have to keep him once he joins the navy. He will be in training and then he'll go to a big grey ship.0

Except child benefit goes to 20 now, and not 19, but CSA still cut off at 19.0
