Some advice pls

Hello

Would like some advice if poss. I am thinking about buying my first home, have been renting for years and thought I would but the money to good use and buy my own. Here's the problem I have bad credit and wanted to know if I could still get a mortgage?

Thanks

Louise

How bad is bad? Have you got copies of your credit files and do you have debts? What % deposit do you have?
  • Depends on your definition of bad credit...just a few missed payments, or defaults, or CCJs, or bankruptcy...? Are you on a DMP or IVA?

At least as important, have you got a deposit?

Without no or a small deposit, I'd advise you save hard to make a 15% to 20% deposit, so you get a decent rate on your mortgage. The time that takes will help your past bad credit problems become less of an issue.

OP asked same question in April but didn't bother replying to questions.
