Please help, what does this mean?

Hi all, me and DH went BR in June last year, he was discharged in December, me in March (would have been sooner but they lost me in the system). Neither of us got IPA as hubby was made redundant so only my wage and a baby on the way.

Anyway we moved in April well after i recieved my discharge and i havent really thought anything else about it.

Then today, as im reading the local paper i see my name in bold type under the Public and Legal notices with this

NAME AND (former) ADDRESS ''i intend to pay within four months from 5 october 2009 (being the last day for proving) the first and final dividend of 0.75p/£ . Creditors who have not yet proved their debts must do so by 5 October 2009 otherwise they will be excluded from the dividend. The required proof of debt form is available on the Insolvency Service Website...''

Does it mean that anyone who has not come forward as one of my creditors must do so soon? The only money they took off me was from my NT tax code and a month of IPA which was cancelled almost immediately cos DH was made redundant.

Is something wrong? It seems so long after the BR that this should be in the paper. As well as that im a bit embarressed and hoping none of my colleagues see this. But suppose i'll have to live with that!

Thank you in advance

It seems to be a mistake, if you are both discharged its too late for creditors to make a claim. Was your previous property rented?

  • Yes we were in a council flat and moved to a council house where we are now after baby came. I havent given them our new address as i thought it was over with, and they have our mobile numbers Thank you
  • I think it must just be an error or maybe they are very far behind with this sort of thing due to the increased workload i believe they have had the last couple of years.
Ive just checked the Insolvency Service register online and im definately no longer listed on there as bankrupt. I havent been for months.
I suppose if they want me they will call me, but ive had my discharge letter so it must be the end of it?
    Hope so!

If you are renting there is no problem. I asked that question in case you just sold a property as they have 3 years to deal with that - discharged or not.

It is just standard procedure, when they are in a position to make a dividend payment they advertise so that no creditors have missed out, if they want their 0.75p/£
