Hi DFW's
I hope no one minds me starting my own thread, but I have been really struggling for the past month and think writing it down may help.
I think the problem is that in my mind I have paid off the 'bad' debts cc, loan, store card & overdraft. The loan I have left was for expanding my business so I think i'm telling myself deep down it's not as bad, but I know its a huge amount of money and I really want it gone as its over 7 years, i'm so close to getting under the 20K figure, but I keep sabotaging my efforts, I have spent both last and some of this months overpayments well over a £1000 on the house and clothes and now I've started can't stop. I have been so focused for 6 months its frightening that I slipped into my old ways so easily.
I want to draw a line under it now, its done and I need to get back on track.
My motivation to pay it off asap.
I have cut everything back to the minimum, my main goal for this month now is to keep to budget to pay off what I can this month even if its a small amount and to try not to overspend on groceries.
Thanks everyone, and thankyou D&DD your post that you were under your 30K milestone really made me realise that I needed to pull my socks up as I should have been under mine at the same time.

- I will be able to give up my extra job freeing up 2 evenings a week
- We can have a nice family holiday abroad next year this will also motivate me to lose weight
- We will be over a £1000 pounds a month better off when you include overpayment
- Can then start over paying our mortgage
- I can wake in the morning knowing I don't owe anyone a penny

Zippy,
Some good positive thoughts! You *can* stop spending - get back on the budget!! And post it here so we can encurage you to stick to it!
is it time to look at our SOA again? When did you last do this?Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
Thanks Emmzi
Spent half the day on snowball calculator to re-motivate myself. SOA is to the bare minimum, I think I even took it too far, I cancelled pet insurance as we had never claimed and a week later our dog had an injury, shes in the vets today having x-rays and they are talking of operating so goodness knows what the bill will be.
My only problem is grocery spending, I do Aldis, Lidls etc, but due to lack of time and dislike of cooking find it a struggle, we were spending over £500 a month before I started adding it up  , now its about £300.0 -
Aww Zippy come on, cheer up and give us your latest SoA0

Hey Zippy,
Good luck chick - we are all with you and know those bad moments - all too well. Sometimes its going so well its frightening and others, you don't know how you were managing before!
Keep motivated - you are doing so well. Your four motivational points are like the Paul McKenna 'I Can Make You Thin Book' - just keep repeating them.
scottishspendaholic xMBNA = £4,000 / Next = £925 (approx. tbc on 19/8)
Tesco = £2,910.11 / Smile overdraft = £500
Bank of Scotland = £2,782.830
